The Celebrity Ascent is Celebrity’s newest ship. We spent a week on it in January. I loved it. Celebrity addressed all my complaints about the Edge. The sunset bar is larger and tucked further back into the ship to help with the wind. The martini bar is in the center of the sunken Deck 3 lounge allowing for a lot more room around the bar. World Class bar overlooks the Deck 3 so you can still hear the music.

This cruise we tried the Retreat. It was a quite a difference coming from the Retreat on the Reflection. The Ascent has a huge sun deck with a small pool and two whirlpools. You can get a small snack menu delivered to your chair. We loved it. I thought it surpassed the service we got in the Vibe on Norwegian. I was disappointed in the Retreat lounge. On the Reflection, the lounge was a fun place to hang out. On the Ascent, it was pretty quiet because you can’t sit around the bar.

Is the Retreat worth it? I enjoyed the larger cabin, sun deck access, and elevated dining in Luminae. I think I would only splurge for it on itineraries when I am spending a lot of time on the ship.
