Explore Cancun on horseback on this tour. After your van takes you into the Mayan jungle and you have received appropriate instructions, you will explore the paths of the jungle passing through Cenotes on your way to a beautiful beach. Once you arrive you will make your way to a beach club for a cool drink and a delicious snack. This tour lasts two hours and is offered on weekdays only with start times at 9:30 am and noon.

Snorkel and swim the second largest reef in the world, the Great Mayan Reef, and then head to a Cenote, an underground river with crystal clear water during this private snorkel tour. The tour lasts 5 hours and is offered 7 days a week with a start time of 7:30 am. 

Discover ancient Maya ruins and swim in a Cenote on this small-group ATV Adventure Tour through Native Park located in Playa Del Carmen. In addition, on this tour you will visit a small ranch and participate in a Mayan Ceremony. After your tour explore La Quinta Avenida and the nearby beaches on your own. This 4 hour tour is offered 7 days a week with start times at 11 am and 3 pm. 

Drive your own two-person speed boat through the green mangrove channels along the Nichupte Lagoon, then  arrive at the world’s second-largest coral reef and enjoy a close encounter with nature while snorkeling in the sea. This 3 hour tour is available Tuesday through Sunday with departure times at 8:30 am, 11 am, 1:30 pm and 4 pm. 

A two-seater jet ski is perfect for exploring the coastal area along either the Cancun Hotel Zone or Riviera Maya. 30 or 60 minutes rentals are available daily.

Delphinus Punta Cancun located within the Hyatt Ziva Hotel in the Cancun Hotel Zone and Playa Mujeres Delphinus located within Dreams Playa Mujeres Golf & Spa Resort offer interactive dolphin experiences for couples. Learn about these beautiful marine animals and engage with up to 21 different activities with them. Tours last one hour and are available daily.

Visit Yucatan’s tallest pyramid on this Sunset Bike Tour. Ride through the Maya jungle and tour the ancient site of Coba, afterwards choose from a cultural experience in a Maya village or an extreme zipline adventure and cenote swim. The tour finishes with a buffet or lobster dinner while watching the sunset. Tours last 8 hours and are offered on Thursdays only.

Cancun Excursions for Kids under 10 Years Old

 

Cancun is known for its beautiful beaches and near perfect weather. The area also offers lots of family-friendly activities, here are some of the best options for family fun with children under age 10. 

Located in the Hotel Zone is Aquabounce, an inflatable obstacle course located on the water. Guests navigate through slippery stairs, wobbly platforms, giant slides, trampolines and moving platforms. Minimum height is 3’2”, life jackets are obligatory. 

Mexico’s Xcaret Park in Playa Del Carmen offers more than 40 attractions and activities for all ages to explore. There are beaches, natural pools, cenotes, underground rivers, jungle trails, and cultural presentations. Activities perfect for ages 12 and under include Children’s World, an area with water slides, tunnels, hanging bridges, climbing nets, and obstacles just for them! There is also a separate area for under age six which has a wading pool, sandbox and water jets. Other kid-friendly areas include the Butterfly Pavillon, Aviary, Coral Reef Aquarium, Sea Turtles, and Jaguar Island.  Some activities such as swimming with dolphins, snorkeling and the interactive shark adventure do have an additional fees. Children 4 and under are free.

The Paradise Subsee Explorer is a cross between a yellow submarine and a glass bottom boat. Before boarding the Subsee guests are taken on a fast boat out to the Punta Nizac Reef, once there guests board the sub and then enjoy a narrated, air conditioned tour of the reef teeming with fish, turtles, and coral. No minimum age.

Sea Turtle Watch in Playa Del Carmen lets visitors witness up close the turtles making their nests, delivering the eggs and returning to the sea. Visitors may also be lucky enough to observe turtle eggs hatch and watch baby turtles make their way to the ocean. Ages 3 and under are free.

A great adventure for ages 6 and up is the Jungle Maya Native Park. The park offers zip lines, rappelling and snorkeling in a cave. Visitors also have the opportunity to participate in an authentic Mayan Ceremony and enjoy a traditional meal from the region. 

This Dolphin Encounter in Isla Mujeres is designed for all ages and allows for visitors to learn about, kiss, hug, and interact with these beautiful creatures. Minimum Age is 1, ages 5 and under are free.

A wonderful family evening tour is Xoximilco Park which offers guests the opportunity to experience the traditions, cultures and folklore of one of the World Heritage Sites by UNESCO in Mexico. The evening starts with Carnival-type games, and continues with gondola rides through festive canals, traditional live music, and a delicious dinner of distinctly Mexican cuisine. Ages 4 and under are free.

You have the option of a regular room or Star Class. Star Class is Planet Hollywood Cancun All Inclusive Resort's club level. You'll get access to a lounge, a special pool, grill and beach area. You'll also have better room locations within the resort.

Planet Hollywood Cancun All Inclusive Resort is two resorts next to each other. Planet Hollywood Cancun Adult Scene is the adults only resort.  It's very important to know you have to book in the Adults Scene resort  to have access to the Adults Only pool and restaurants.  As a Planet Hollywood Adults Scene Cancun guest, you have full access to the family resort. Highlights include a great splash park for younger kids, a Flow Rider for older kids, and a great lazy river. Planet Hollywood Cancun All Inclusive Resort  is on a great beach. We really enjoyed the dining especially Sutra - the Indian restaurant. Star Class is Planet Hollywood Cancun All Inclusive Resort's club level. You'll get access to a lounge, a special pool, grill and beach area. You'll also have better room locations within the resort.

Margaritaville Island Reserve Riviera Cancun

 

Margaritaville Island Reserve Riviera Cancun is the first all inclusive Margaritaville in the world. Margaritaville Island Reserve Riviera Cancun All Inclusive Resort is located about 20 minutes south of the Cancun airport. Margaritaville Island Reserve Riviera Cancun All Inclusive Resort is a family resort. I think it's best suited to younger kids or kids who love to swim. Margaritaville Island Reserve Riviera Cancun has four restaurants. I was really impressed with the daily live music and the fun playlists around the pools. Margaritaville Island Reserve Riviera Cancun is a small resort so the vibe is very chill.
