We have been looking at a lot of warm weather getaways for our recent Trips with Angie virtual vacations and I thought it was time we took a peak at a winter getaway. My family has been talking a lot about wanting to take a ski trip, and a couple years ago we had a client book a trip to Keystone, CO so I thought we should take a closer look.

In operation since 1970, Keystone is a family-oriented ski resort on the Snake River 5 miles east of Dillon on US Hwy 6, just an hour and a half from Denver. T

he resort serves all levels of skiers from beginners to advanced and is also the largest night skiing operation in Colorado. The resort area consists of 3,148 skiable acres, three distinct mountain peaks, 20 lifts and two gondolas, plus world-class restaurants, luxury spas and excellent shopping. The man-made lake at the resort is surrounded by ski lodges and is one of the nation’s largest groomed skating ponds and is popular with ice skaters in the winter and paddle-boaters in the summer.

A Nordic center caters to cross-country skiers and snowshoers, and instruction is available for both. In summer, those ski trails become hiking trails. The chairlift runs in the summer too, to get hikers up to mountain-top trails. It’s also fun to explore the area on horseback, or play a few rounds of golf on two high-altitude courses.

In addition to skiing and snowboarding the resort offers scenic sleigh rides, mountaintop snow tubing  adventure tours, Kidtopia Snow Fortsnow biking, guided ski tours, and snowmobile tours.
